Fashion Weeks are exciting, all the new colors, patterns and styles priming fashion lovers for the upcoming seasons. Patterns made an appearance on all three of the runways in this diary entry. Each was completely different but felt very much like the essence of new life was found on each runway, albeit in a different iteration on each. The looks were amazing and personally I am ready for spring!
Let’s see what patterns and styles the spring 2018 runway collections of Max Mara, Fendi, and Emilio Pucci have in store for us for the new season!
Max Mara Spring/ Summer 2018 RTW Collection
Max Mara’s spring 2018 RTW collection showed Milan Fashion Week a reminder of what we loved about ‘90s fashion in the movies against clean and classic options. Boldness was there, though perhaps not in today’s expected sense.
While the color combinations were not jaw-dropping, the editing of the clothes provided the wow factor. Prints and flowing cuts, classic colors and strict tailoring abound throughout the Max Mara spring/ summer 2018 collection, matching the want for something new and different with something reliably chic.
Each piece could certainly be defined as classic and will easily become a staple for a working wardrobe. The aesthetics show off an impeccably clean, dreamy tailoring. The flattering styles range from straight tailored workman-styled jumpsuits to structured silhouette-changing skirts.
The incorporation of sheer pieces within the collection was more refined than sheer pieces are typically being used today. The Max Mara spring 2018 collection was outspoken in design and reserved in the palette, a beautiful combination for spring.
Fendi Spring/ Summer 2018 RTW Collection
Fendi showed off spring patterns and a more loose-fitting silhouette. The use of the cold shoulder cut-outs and flowing skirts was very fresh-feeling, although the cold shoulder trend has been going strong for a while.
The color palette was fresh, beautiful and certainly springtime chic. Longer lengths and peeks of patterns in opaque and sheer styles kept the Fendi spring 2018 collection fun and vibrant.
Certain pieces like the A-line leather skirt and the soft semi sheer light blue cold-shouldered top and green skirt were transcendently stunning. The colors seem very in line with Pantone’s Little Boy Blue and Arcadia colors for spring 2018.
For spring 2018, Fendi’s ready-to-wear collection is a fun and stunning one with a ton of great options to choose from. A personal favorite? The leather coat! It was amazing, the cold shoulder style was unexpected, the belted middle fabulous and flattering, and the cuts and the detailed tailoring were a dream come true.
Overall Fendi’s spring 2018 offerings are a fully rounded collection of completely beautiful options, brilliant mixes of incredible colors into patterns and silhouettes that have a different appeal to everyone.
Emilio Pucci Spring/ Summer 2018 Collection
Designed by the in-house team after Massimo Giorgetti’s exit, Emilio Pucci’s spring/ summer 2018 ready-to-wear collection is very editorial, flattering and illustrative.
The color combinations in the bold print are stunning, eye-catching and beautifully contrasting thanks to the subtleties of the black against the white, greys and light blues. The framing in the white on the three-quarter-length V-necked dress was interesting and even more flattering than I anticipated such a boldly printed dress could be.
The styling of the Emilio Pucci spring 2018 collection lent the imagination to a warm spring with beautiful colors and incredible stunning designs. One of the best pieces was the loose-fit jumpsuit in the soft neutrals with bright yellow to spice it up. The flow of this outfit in particular is classic, with a slightly retro feel to it, though clearly modernized.
The line of modern, mod and retro was toed and redefined through several of the outfits in this collection. The overall feel is fun fresh and indubitably reminiscent of spring as it should be.
