Paris Fashion Week as always continues to keep the interest of fashion fans riveted as the next stop where the new looks will be revealed. Highs and lows are to be expected, but the highs were brilliantly high.
The color usage was unexpected across the board, but impeccable just the same in the feelings of spring. Varied necklines and features, silhouettes and color palettes were fun from the beginning of each of the spring 2018 collections of Dries Van Noten, Rochas, and Kenzo to the end.
Dries Van Noten Spring/ Summer 2018 RTW Collection
Dries Van Noten put on an excellent show that was nothing short of charmingly exhilarating. The show was intentional in a way that was designed to be contradictory to the mood many of us have been living in for months. While we are all in company, Dries Van Noten wants a bit of a lift, and the brand certainly provided this.
The LBD with the unexpected sheer cape, the prints and the clever tailoring on so many of the looks were hauntingly beautiful, varied and wonderful. A person could purchase the entire collection and still look different and amazing every single day wearing only this collection.
There was no lull in the show, all of the looks were exciting and new.
Rochas Spring/ Summer 2018 RTW Collection
The Rochas runway was full of couture silhouettes during the Paris showing of the spring 2018 collection. The Rochas spring/ summer 2018 show was presented in the Pavillon Ledoyen on as grand a scale as the clothing was overt and elegant.
The voluminous shapes and elbow-length gloves stood with lavish excellence in a collection designed around the essence of wearable couture styling. Infanta gowns and brocades featuring the metallic that many love strengthened the collection as well.
It wasn’t about current tight trends or slinky clothes. The styles and forms were exaggerated. The shimmer many of the looks had was perfect, catching and reflecting the light brilliantly and allowing not only the style, but also the overall concept to truly shine.
Kenzo Spring/ Summer 2018 RTW Collection
The Kenzo spring 2018 collection was more than a runway presentation. Kenzo was revealed in full dramatic fashion. Both the women’s and men’s collections were shown with a full act with aerial dancers performing in the time between the showing of the two collections.
The Kenzo spring 2018 collection, as addressed by Humberto Leon, is well considered. He explained to Vogue: “We’ve gone political; we’ve addressed climate; we’ve gone on very topical things, and we wanted to almost step back and really have fun with this collection.”
The efforts they pressed for could be recognized very easily. The bright colors, interesting cuts and variety of similarly bright patterns were interspersed throughout the collection. There were interesting pockets and off-kilter sporty attire.
The collection had so many different eye-catching, visually interesting details, like frilled, striped and brightly colored biker shorts. These were paired with blazers vests. It was a fully realized smorgasbord on a runway.
