Fall is just beginning but we already know what you’re dreaming of: spring flowers, patio days, gorgeous blue skies, stunning spring footwear… As you brace yourself for the cold winter ahead, why not start planning for the warmer months by fantasizing about the best spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends?

Spring/ Summer 2019 Shoe Trends

We’ll let you in on a fun little spoiler: there is nary a demure or subtle sole in sight for the spring/ summer 2019 shoes! The upcoming months are all about texture, color, and vibrance. Go bold and enhance your silhouette with a high voltage dose of exuberance. Play with Sixties pastels and materials or go hyper-urbane with athletic platform sandals. Fearlessness is in the cards, so power up your personality and get ready for something big.

#1. Bow-Tiful Shoes

These are not your grandma’s bows, ladies. One of the cutest spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends, these bows are delectably sweet, sure, but they are by no means demure. Bow accents create dimension without adding unnecessary clutter to a shoe’s silhouette. Bows nod to centuries of feminine fashion tradition yet they also maintain a precocious, delightfully frivolous air.

Slightly tacky and all the better for it, the bow-decked heeled sandals at Zimmermann were perfectly bizarre. We like the glamorously girly white bow at Badgley Mischka. If you insist on something more subdued, may we suggest the innocent girlish number from Alexa Chung’s namesake line?

Peter Pilotto’s safflower yellow bowed stilettos reminded us of the silver screen goddesses of days past – the bow serving as an intriguing invitation, rather than a cutesy detail. Monse tied their scarf-detail straps into a bow for a sophisticated rendition of this spring 2019 footwear trend. Bow details decked out the molten gold heels at Saint Laurent.

#2. Mod Mood – White & Pink Shoes

White is one of those shades that could be considered an anti-trend. It is everywhere, and this ubiquity may lull you into the sense that white can be disregarded when researching trends. Not the case! For the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends, mod white stole the show. Pleather, mesh, and glazed leather brought white back to the heady days of Sixties London.

We loved the black and white heels at Self-Portrait. They captured our retro schoolgirl imagination, and we can see them pairing perfectly with a black shift dress or turtleneck and jeans combo.

Alexander McQueen took a mod futuristic approach with the white and stainless steel cut-out stiletto boots. Perfect for a 2001: A Space Odyssey babe! Victoria Beckham’s mod cowboy boots blurred the spring 2019 shoe trends and felt brazen and in-our-faces (no complaints)! Marni’s white kitten boots were cute and elegant. Balenciaga’s square-toed boots were a space age dream.

Baby pink was a sub-trend that we loved. Shining pleather pinks feel girlish and youthful. They are unexpected enough to turn heads but they don’t require too much of a deviation from your comfort zone (should you have one). The baby pink booties at Loewe offer the perfect excuse to indulge.

#3. PVC Clear Shoes

Barbie girls the world over have helped usher this spring/ summer 2019 shoe trend to the peak of the style pyramid. PVC transparent shoes are delightfully kitschy and tongue-in-cheek. They are an aggressive sartorial statement that raises the style stakes with poise and verve. PVC shoes for 2019 remind us of those dress-up sets we used as kids. They are starry-eyed and possessed of childlike wonder.

Calvin Klein used translucent materials to breathe new life into traditional shapes. The transparent sectionals reigned supreme at Tibi, where mesh cut-outs mimicked the look of PVC. Monse sent stilettos down the runway that featured a blink-and-you-miss-it PVC detail paired with a swanky bow-tied lace-up.

The PVC soles on the lipstick red Chanel sandals were Monaco socialite approved. Balmain released one of the most unexpected iterations of the PVC trend with their plastic angled heel wonders. Alexa Chung’s PVC sandals were the epitome of hipster uptown cool.

Rejina Pyo’s PVC transparent heeled neon lime shoes for summer 2019 were the definition of modern fresh. Versace branded their plastic details for a playful take on an already playful trend! MSGM mixed black, white, and plastic and in the process created a new sartorial triad!

#4. Flock of Feathers

As one of the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends, feathers have a feel of unparalleled worldliness to them. They reach back through the millennia and they are redolent of ancient royalty. They possess intrigue, mystery, and a touch of magical luxury. Feathers are forward and fearless and intoxicatingly of the moment.

Prabal Gurung was the king of feathers this season – he decked out his asymmetrical and sculptural stilettos and booties with a fabulous array of gravity-defying feather details. One of the most original looks was seen at Christian Cowan where a raven feather juts out provocatively from a sleek, contoured shoe.

The cacophony of free-form feathers at Brock Collection would fit in perfectly at a late Sixties London warehouse soiree. Lipstick red sandals at Valentino were decadent and unapologetically sensual. Their cappuccino brown platform sandals were rimmed with fluffy feathers.

Royal blue feathers and volcanic red took the slender heels at Dries Van Noten to new, stellar, heights. Simone Rocha’s kitten heels featured wrap-around feathers that were quaintly glamorous. Tod’s decked out their bohemian flats with whimsical golden leaves.

#5. Blue Skies and Blue Shoes

Spring and summer are the seasons of the blue sky and so are the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends. Welcome the bluebird days by following suit with your style. Blue shoes shouldn’t feel as original as they do, given the ubiquity of the color. But incorporate a cobalt or azure blue into your shoe rotation and be prepared to be amazed at how utterly fresh this color feels.

Kill two style birds with one stone by pairing blue with a sporty utility sandal, like those seen at John Elliott. Midnight royal blue was an evocative and wildly desirable shade when paired with dainty straps at Oscar de la Renta.

High-top runners got an infusion of pop when swathed in blazing cobalt. Peter Pilotto’s dense cobalt blue stunners were subtly luxurious and immensely approachable. Marc Jacobs presented deep cosmic navy blue pleated shoes – cue lust.

#6. Orange Shoes

Embrace the warmer side of the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends with this cheery and energetic It shade. One of the Pantone spring 2019 colors, orange entices us with its broad, genuine heart and scope of vision. It creates an unexpected and compelling contrast with a black and white outfit and can be the pop of vibrant color you need on those hazy and cool spring evenings.

The buckled tangerine heel at Sies Marjan proved that orange has an edgy side. Orange is not restricted to any one form as the cowboy boot clogs at Calvin Klein demonstrated. The pleather knee-high boots at Jeremy Scott were a veritable sun lover’s futuristic fantasy.

Skinny strappy heels at Versace were pure vitality when paired with a matching slip dress. Santoni updated traditional loafers with white lace and punchy tangerine. Prada’s tangerine heels incorporated another trend: the bow. Orange can be subdued, too, as the muted tangerine suede at Dries Van Noten proved.

#7. Neon Lime-Yellow Shoes

Protect your eyes because some of the best in show for the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends are neon numbers that shine like the sun. Neon is fresh and vibrant and hints at an innate playfulness and energy. It turns even the worst mood around and can easily liven up the most severe of black and white outfits.

We love the jewel-rimmed clunky heels at Christian Siriano. Lime yellow block sandals at Versace may have struck previous generations as tasteless but they are the perfect epitome of the 2019 sensibility.

Alexandre Birman’s neon pool sliders come in a flashy acrylic shade to satisfy all of your rainbow desires. Prabal Gurung’s sunshine-hued feathered stilettos blinded us with their tantalizing and fun-loving shape. Max Mara’s opaque sunny yellow stilettos offered a delightful option for the optimists among us.

#8. Pure Whimsical Embroidery

Whimsical embroidery and embellishments provoke fantasies of ancient treasure boxes and antique jewel boxes. Whimsical designs draw inspiration from land and sea and infuse your aesthetic with a healthy dose of wanderlust.

We love the aquatic, mermaid-worthy kitten heels at Michael Kors – the starfish detail an ethereal and romantic addition to the shimmering brocade. The beaded booties at Custo Barcelona seduce with an opulent magenta base and intricate pattern. Anna Sui’s beaded slip shoes and kitschy fantasy numbers were eclectic retro writ large.

Floral embroidery was a big sub-trend that rocked the spring/ summer 2019 shoes. Michael Kors released a playfully romantic patterned heel that knocked us off our feet. We loved the richly woven bootie stilettos at Alexander McQueen. They combined a rocker girl mood with sultry rosy dark femininity.

Elie Saab’s dreamy floral knee-high boots married artistry with fashion. Dolce & Gabbana have always been at the forefront of glamorous florals and they paired these with floral printed stocking socks. Versace’s Japanese mural-inspired floral chunky heels were beyond stunning.

Spring/ Summer 2019 Shoe Trends: Embroidered Shoes & Sandals

#9. Contoured Heels

Traditional heels make room for the new wave for the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends! Unusual, sculptural heels capitalize on deviations of form to create an innovative new shape.

Contoured heels are a fascinating reappraisal of tried and true shapes. They allow you to incorporate a sense of dramatic ambiguity into your everyday style. Onlookers will be captivated by your outfit but won’t necessarily be able to identify why.

We love the bulky, Roman column base heel at Concept Korea. Tibi released a mod spacious bootie with an angled heel. Sies Marjan proved that kitten heels are also fair game when it comes to taking creative liberties with heel construction!

The molten gold heeled sandals at Cushnie were paired with an angled heel that perfectly reflected the light. Chloe’s sensuously contoured chubby heels will be gracing the feet of all uptown hipsters come spring.

#10. Easy-Breezy Flat Sandals

An appropriate choice, no? Summer flat sandals are the king of warm weather dressing but they have always occupied a kind of ambiguous liminal zone in the fashion universe. They have never been fully embraced as a statement making sartorial piece – until now. The function and utility of the flat sandal is given a fresh lease of life with the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends.

We loved the woven red flat sandals at Altuzarra. They prove that simplicity and an understated sensibility will stand the trend-test of time, regardless of form. They also prove that summer flat sandals do have a place in the high-stakes world of luxury fashion!

Chloe’s opulent colorful flip-flop-style sandals will certainly have the jet-setters among us crawling to the high street for some ‘practical’ spring shopping! Giambattista Valli paired casual flat sandals with high style metallic details for an unexpected, confident, twist.

#11. Nautical Rope, Mesh, and Braids

Woven rope hit high notes for the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends. Nautical touches have an indelibly breezy feel to them. They speak to calm, cool, and collected luxury and they belie a sophisticated and elegant sensibility. Woven rope sandals remind us of gorgeous sunset session on Nantucket or on the French Riviera. We know that’s a mood you want to cultivate come the warmer months.

The sweet and simple roped delights at Milly and Monse are bound to grace every socialite’s tootsies come April. Michael Kors has always led the charge when it comes to relaxed luxury, and this season is no exception. We love the woven espadrilles he sent down the runway. Tory Burch’s rope heels felt fresh and unexpected and left us wanting more.

Braided numbers at Stella McCartney took the nautical vibes in a more woodsy, earthy direction. They were upscale reimaginings of outdoorsy garb, and we can just imagine them paired with a pair of well-appointed white jeans. Alberta Ferretti also offered a unique vision of the braided sandal.

#12. Fishnet Shoes

Mesh weaving is a sporty hybrid of the nautical trend. Mesh feels fresh, brazen, and appealingly wearable. Mesh is inspired by the world of fishing nets. It is casual provocation on a sassy new level.

Marine references at Altuzarra were well-appointed and tasteful. Salvatore Ferragamo incorporated mesh detailing into his pointy stilettos. The result was yacht club-approved kitschy luxury. Dior’s mesh cruise collection was on-trend and fishnet cool.

Fishnet boots were a nonconformist take on classic nautical detailing. Salvatore Ferragamo’s purple knee-high boots had a whimsical and bohemian feel. Giorgio Armani’s boots had a marine-meets-gypsy silhouette – how original! Christian Dior’s spring 2019 shoes were quaint and precious.

Spring/ Summer 2019 Shoe Trends: Fishnet Shoes & Sandals

#13. Combat Boot Silhouette & Buckles All Over

Combat boots are no longer the exclusive purview of the rock and roll set. For the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends, they have gone high fashion with an intentional heel and sleek form.

Combat heels provide a compelling contrast with sleek and dainty silhouettes and they create the illusion of thin legs. The extra height never hurts either. Pair with a jeans and tee uniform for an urbane look or go full Courtney Love with a babydoll party dress.

We love the claw-heeled variety at Christian Cowan, a shoe that would make KISS proud. The Blonds went full punk princess with a studded design.

If you prefer to eschew the heavy platform, you can still engage with the combat trend. The flat combat style boots at Alexander McQueen featured the perfect amount of bulky hardware. Louis Vuitton’s ruched glossy jet black booties are at home in an underground rock bar and the high style streets of downtown Paris.

Buckles were not merely restricted to combat boots. For the spring/ summer 2019 shoes, buckles graced flats and stilettos and endowed traditional forms with a rugged and sensual edge. Celine’s cute biker booties were buckled and delightful – proving you don’t need to be a counterculture maven to embrace the trend.

Spring/ Summer 2019 Shoe Trends: Combat Boots & Buckles

#14. Fringe

Fringe is a decadent hedonist’s fashion dream. It encompasses a wide scope of style moods: Twenties flapper precious, Seventies bohemian gypsy, and modern Monaco glittering it-girl. For the spring 2019 shoe trends, fringe isn’t restricted to any one material. It can be suede, leather, beaded, and beyond.

The fringed crimson gladiator sandals at Longchamp would make a sensual Greek goddess proud. We adore the sunflower baby yellow heels at Oscar de la Renta. The delicate tassel fringe detail is invitingly feminine. De la Renta also embraced OTT fringe for the luxe collection of simple flat sandals. At Coach 1941, fringe tassels were grown-up and subdued, rather than opulent and eye-catching.

#15. Power Clashed Runners

Dad sneakers are never going away. The seal has been broken, and the move to ugly, oversized and brash sneakers has a momentum that no one could have foreseen. For the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends, ugly sneakers are unexpectedly endearing and undoubtedly fierce. They take no prisoners and they have no fear! Pairing a sleek and classy outfit with a power clashed pair of runners fractures the lines of good taste, but with a wink.

Escada’s and Alexander Wang’s crayola and metallic runners were eye-catching to say the least. Even tasteful giants like Coach released some so-fugly-they-work fringed runners. Tory Burch sent tacky blue runners down the runway, and we loved them. They struck all the right quirky-cute notes.

We have to say, our top pick is the roller space age running shoes at Roberto Cavalli. These delightful eyesores remind us of the heavy metal wonders of the early Eighties. The streak of silver is on-trend and fiercely silly.

Spring/ Summer 2019 Shoe Trends: Ugly Dad Sneakers

#16. Toe Straps

Artistic and original, toe straps have an element of the architectural behind them. At first toe straps will feel unusual on your feet. It simply takes some getting used to. Once you have overcome the discomfort curve, you will embrace this trend with open toes. For the summer 2019 shoe trends, they have a degree of utilitarian cool to them, with a streak of Sixties mod.

The edgy and futuristic silver coil platform sandals at 3.1 Phillip Lim were strikingly edgy in form. The minimalist heels at Derek Lam are only for those with the most elegant taste in fashion.

Sonia Rykiel’s lipstick red shoes were asymmetry done right. Though not a traditional toe strap per se, the innovative offering at Prabal Gurung proved that horizontal versions of straight lines are the creative fix that we all need in our lives.

Spring/ Summer 2019 Shoe Trends: Toe-Strap Shoes & Sandals

#17. Soft Lavender Shoes

Lavender is an ethereal and dreamy shade. Not only does it suggest romantic fields of calm-inducing herbal delights, but also it accentuates our femininity, albeit subtly. Lavender doesn’t try too hard and it is a gentle and inviting introduction to the purple family. Lavender warms up the complexion and flatters every skin tone.

We loved the plush chunky heel at Kate Spade, a retro reimagination of the shade. Tom Ford’s bedroom inspired lavender pointed kitten heels were neon erotica done right. Tibi’s off baby blue-lavender booties were sweet without being overdone.

Spring/ Summer 2019 Shoe Trends: Lavender Shoes & Sandals

#18. Mint Green Shoes

Mint green is a fascinating shade. It reminds us of Sixties kitsch interior design – think sea foam green kitchen counters and dial-up telephones. For the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends, it is quirky without drawing undue attention to itself, making it more approachable than some of its pastel counterparts.

We love the icy mint snakeskin shoes at Carolina Herrera. They would pair intriguingly with an Andy Warhol-esque shift dress. Miu Miu embraced a hot Stepford Wives sensibility with their muted linoleum mint green chunky kitten heels. Wear these to your next PTA meetings and watch the others drool.

Spring/ Summer 2019 Shoe Trends: Mint Green Shoes & Sandals

#19. A Trip to the Zoo

So animal prints never really go out of style but the sheer variety in the spring/ summer 2019 print trends reminds us of a foray into the African savannah. Animal prints are a fascinating breed of material. They could be appropriately classified as a neutral, yes, but they also possess many of the same qualities as their bold and powerful printed cousins like stripes and polka dots.

Michael Kors sent down power tractor-sole sandals with a playful blue and black zebra print. Burberry took the zoo straight to the neighborhood farm with their cow print cuties!

Keep in mind that this fashion zoo exists on a technicolor plane. If you’re bored of the same old neutral shades, don’t shy away from the animal kingdom! Chloe sent out a delectable crayola purple pair of snakeskin clogs that were positively original. Saint Laurent debuted muddied yellow snakeskin knee-high boots. Survival of the sartorial fittest, anyone?

#20. Sock It to Me

Socks and stilettos make the little trend that could. There is something cheeky about this spring/ summer 2019 shoe trend. It understands the element of poor taste involved and capitalizes on this fashion grey area. The result is a precocious and kitschy bohemian schoolgirl vibe that feels unrelentingly fresh.

This is a look that still retains some of its shock factor, a valuable quality when it comes to producing innovative and exciting looks. Spectators will admire your confidence and swagger and may reconsider the look for themselves.

At Self-Portrait, strappy black and white clog style chunky heels looked provocative when paired with opaque black socks. Alexa Chung upped the stakes by adding a dainty anklet atop textured socks for a unique take on layering.

Burberry released a space age silver heel and paired it with a simple white sock for a tasteful take on this very playful spring 2019 footwear trend. Erdem brought party lacy socks into the mix with stellar results.

Spring/ Summer 2019 Shoe Trends: Shoes & Sandals with Socks

#21. Bulky Sandals

Reminiscent of utility sandals like Teva and Docs, the new breed of sandals for the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends gets a high fashion makeover. Bulky, track soles are the perfect marriage of form and function.

They provide comfortable wear and they enhance the slender appearance of the foot and ankle by force of contrast. Bulky shoes have become a statement-making favorite in sartorial circles as of late, so pairing the shape with the tried-and-true sandal feels like a natural next step.

Michael Kors sent out some bulky beauties that even the tame among us will be craving come spring. The shaggy track-soled sandals at Monse were eclectic and self-assured. Though they were more streamlined in shape, the feathered Valentino sandals we saw on the runways were the epitome of playful glamour. Gabriela Hearst presented a unique form with a two-prong platform wooden sole.

Spring/ Summer 2019 Shoe Trends: Bulky Teva-Style Sandals

#22. Punchy Athleticism

Athletic gear reigned supreme in the spring/ summer 2019 fashion trends, including the spring 2019 shoes. Tracksuits and tennis dresses were complemented by zingy runners and athleisure-inspired sandals.

These summer 2019 shoes look like they could double as gym shoes but look closer and you’ll see some original high fashion touches that set this variety of shoes apart. Bulky track-sole sandals are an urbane take on the sporty-chic sensibility that designers are lusting over right now.

If you love the feel of Eighties ski wear and tacky athletic apparel, look no further than Jeremy Scott’s daring roller derby neon knee-high boots. Prada’s unusually shaped roller skate heels take confidence to wear, and that is certainly part of their Eighties hair metal appeal.

Off-White’s rainbow runners will be a staple at fashion shows and hip hop shows alike! MSGM’s orange and white platform runners were playful and endearing. Sies Marjan sent down heeled white running shoe boots down the runways. Versace’s neon lime strappy tractor runners were hideous in only the way the best high fashion gear could be!

#23. Kitten Heels

Kitten heels are a classic. They feel prim, sweet, and professional. A pair of kitten heels can make any outfit more polished and elegant. They can take you from the office to a date to an after work event. Kitten heels are a canvas for creativity. For the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends, they need not be subtle or demure.

Marni’s blush pink and black kitten heels incorporated modern architectural details and upholstery. Prada’s school-girl shoes were lacquered black and provocatively precious.

Rejina Pyo’s rainbow and neon shaded kitten heels completely placed the style on its head. Pyo reimagined the kitten heel as the canvas for a magical and whimsical world of color and texture. Simone Rocha’s graceful silver and pearl studded kitten heels demonstrate that girlish charm can be multidimensional and provocative.

#24. Pointy-Toe Shoes

The season of the pointed shoe is upon us. Pointed toe shoes are fierce, forceful and unapologetic. They are a sleek and minimalist way of wearing your attitude on your sleeve, or, toes.

For the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends, pointy shoes can take a clean and crisp aesthetic and up the seductress factor. They also produce a compelling contrast when paired with a breezy dress or feminine color palette. They edge up any old outfit with next to no effort. That’s a trend we can get behind.

The sensual old-Hollywood mood at Givenchy was captivating. These are the shoes your retro seductress would have worn to best effect. Christopher Kane’s lace-panelled pointed heels were delicate and unrelentingly feminine, albeit in a dark and mysterious way. Who doesn’t love a bit of dark glamour?

Calvin Klein’s tangerine and raven black pointed shoes were sultry and exotic in their aesthetic. Tibi’s pointed kitten heels with their see-through panels were an eclectic sartorialists dream. Tom Ford’s heels were as pointy as a dagger and oh-so carnal. Simone Rocha’s Sixties white kitten heels were dainty yet quietly self-assured.

#25. Platform Sandals

Platforms are the friendly ghost of the Eighties that the fashion world is climbing all over itself to embrace. We love that platforms aren’t married to any one style of shoe. For the spring 2019 shoe trends, platform sandals in particular feel extremely modern, confident, and striking.

Platform sandals are the go-to choice of sartorial Instagram insiders and are a simple and effective way of taking a run-of-the-mill outfit to a fashionable and lust-worthy new level. You can go for a subtle platformed sandal if you want a wearable and polished everyday look. But we recommend going bold if at all possible. A large platform is intoxicatingly self-possessed.

We love the larger than life wooden block heels at Jil Sander. Michael Kors’ platform nautical sandals are a luxury way of bagging yourself some extra height. The white laces keep the style wearable. His black platformed version was early Eighties disco approved.

3.1 Phillip Lim’s platformed silver sandals hit so many summer 2019 shoe trends in one. The best part? They are only a few inches in height making them a totally practical option for your spring and summer travels.

Temperley London’s Renaissance black lace-up shoes were dreamy with a hint of sexy gothic appeal. Anna Sui’s Game of Thrones platform sandals were a welcome addition from the world of fantasy!

#26. Logo Shoes

One of the hottest spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends is a stay-over from the fall and winter! Wearable labels graced runways from Paris to New York. Many of them had a decidedly kitschy Eighties appeal.

The general mood of these shoes for fall 2018 was unashamedly playful and tongue-in-cheek, and we love the brazen nature of the trend. It is fearless and unapologetic and a nod to the days when being decked out in designer labels was a wearable way of flashing your sartorial street cred.

Wearable labels, when paired with punchy colors and a flashy aesthetic, demonstrate that the wearer is willing to take fashion risks. She doesn’t take herself too seriously and sees style as an extension of her relaxed, outgoing personality. We love that these bold and colorful labelled shoes for 2019 allow you to wear neutral colored outfits while still maintaining a fresh dose of originality.

We loved the purple retro-swimwear inspired Prada shoes. Chanel released tongue-in-cheek, radically chic logoed slides. They are the perfect companion to a designer outfit and oversized aviator sunglasses.

Christian Dior sent blink-and-you-miss-them logos down the runway. MSGM pasted Eighties logos over their innovative kicks. Versace’s delightfully tacky logo shoes prove that campy dressing is a major overarching trend for 2019!

#27. Mules and Slides

Comfortable mules and slide shoes are a kitschy, elegant and retro-inspired. Slides are easy to wear and style and they have a worldly and bohemian appeal. We love intricate and bejewelled varieties for a nomadic aesthetic.

Simple slides and mules in plush leather and sumptuous fabrics are a simple way of endowing your outfit with a quiet and understated sophistication. Mules and slide shoes for 2019 can make a classy outfit more relaxed for the lazy spring nights and warm summer mornings.

Sies Marjan’s buckled white mule was chic and simple. A perfect way to finish off a composed school or work outfit! Anna Sui’s eccentric and ornamental pink slides came decked out with whimsical beading.

Cushnie’s molten gold slide-ons were fit for Egyptian royalty. Simone Rocha thoughtfully incorporated a dash of lipstick rouge pigment into these Hawaiian beach-inspired slides. Marc Jacobs’ stardust blue mule shoes had us with stars in our eyes! Etro’s Sixties slide shoes were demure and visionary.

#28. Ballet Influences

We love the whimsical and romantic mood of the ballet influences for the spring/ summer 2019 shoes. Ballet influences are a hallowed way of celebrating the world of magic, beauty, and fantasy. They walk a thin line between truth and fiction and they allow us to tap into creative dreams and ideas. Ballet shoes for spring 2019 are comfortable and wearable and look perfectly poised when paired with sweet dainty clothes and breezy long dresses.

We love the soft and plush fabrics that graced the best ballet-influenced shoes of the spring and summer. Stella McCartney’s shoes reminded us of a medieval minstrel. They had something of a precocious and intellectual feel to them.

Off-White sent sweet and delightful laced shoes down their runways. When paired with a chiffon dress, the ethereal effect is real. Dior’s shoes could have been mistaken for real-world ballet slippers. The fabric and detailing were authentic and magical. Marni’s black ballet flats incorporated some dark moodiness into the ballet feel.

#29. Metallic Silver Shoes

Get your silver screen on with metallic, fearless shades of titanium. Silver is a neutral when it wants to be but it can also be an eye-catching dose of heady vivaciousness. The metallic silver we saw on the spring/ summer 2019 shoes was of the bolder variety. It graced all manner of styles and livened up even the most simple of silhouettes.

#30. All That Glitters

Glitter and sparkle are back for the spring/ summer 2019 shoe trends! Glitter is jovial and filled with life-affirming verve. The celebratory nature of glitter and shimmering detailing makes any day feel like a festivity.

Glittering shoes are dramatic and they revel in the mayhem they create. Sparkles are outrageously feminine without being traditional, cutesy, or prim. They are the calling card of any woman who wants to be the center of attention. If you’re the wallflower type, why not step out of your comfort zone in the trendiest way possible? Get into glitter!

One of our favorite releases was the sparkling sensation at Burberry. The luster of the jewels was nothing short of blinding. Christopher Kane took his simple black and white kitten booties and gave them a hit of personality with jewel detailing. Jeremy Scott’s glittering and decadent knee-high boots are outfit-makers. We dare you!

#31. Summer Over-the-Knees

Boots are back for the warmer months! Don’t be fooled by the fabric-heavy design of the boot. They are not the exclusive domain of the cold seasons. Summer boots are a playful and quirky way of contrasting dainty clothes with chunky shoes. They are provocative and sexy and create an aura of composed sensuality.

J.W. Anderson’s glossy and lacquered boots had a sporty and youthful mood. The salmon pink and bark brown color combination is unusual and mirrors the organic world of the forest. Pair with a bohemian outfit for an unusual uptown tree hugging style.

Roksanda’s horseback riding boots were elegant and poised and would look beautiful with a breezy, gypsy-esque floor-sweeping dress. Go lipstick bold with Brandon Maxwell’s crimson knee grazers. Carolina Herrera embraced a country western mood with her embroidered suede boots.

Proenza Schouler’s chunky and roomy spacious black boots were divine when paired with a molten gold heel. Versace’s camel brown boots were urbane and elegant. Victoria Beckham’s mod, opaque shoes were mouthwatering. If Beckham says it’s a thing – it’s a thing.
