17 Best Body Oils for Every Skin Type

The Glowsly editors independently test and choose the best products. We may receive commissions on purchases made from the affiliate links.

Body oils are fancy and a little extra. The best body oils will glide over your skin luxuriously and make it feel incredibly soft! They’re slippery, and they leave behind a bit of a sheen, so they’re definitely more decadent than a light body lotion that sinks into the skin immediately.

They might not be as convenient to use as more conventional body moisturizers, but they more than make up for it with potent formulas that are usually free of fillers. Made with all kinds of botanical oils, body oils are loaded with beneficial fatty acids that are deeply reparative to the skin. Unlike body butters, they’re usually lighter and more dry-feeling, so they can work well for all skin types and needs.

To get you acquainted with this marvelous category of body care products, we’ve curated a list of the best body oils you should try. It can be hard to choose from such a great list, so at the bottom, we’ve put together a quick guide to help you figure out which of these body oils will be best for you.

Our Picks of the Best Body Oils

Best Overall
Glossier Body Hero Dry-Touch Oil Mist
Glossier Glossier.com
$28

Glossier’s foray into producing body care was a surprising success. With this oil, they’ve made a product that stands out as unique in a few different ways.

First, this oil’s texture is impeccable. It gives the skin an initial glow, but then it sinks in fairly quickly and leaves behind a very non-greasy texture. This is larger thanks to caprylic/capric triglyceride, a coconut oil derivative known for its moisturizing abilities and pleasant skin feel.

Next, there’s oat kernel oil, which has a balanced amount of oleic and linoleic acids. It moisturizes thoroughly and keeps the skin soothed. The formula is boosted by a few more light oils, as well as sea fennel extract, which is a mineral-rich, skin-smoothing ingredient. It’s a formula we can safely recommend to all skin types.

The packaging is one of the best we’ve seen. The glass bottle is incredibly pretty and luxurious, and the mister makes the application very easy. Just be careful when you grip the bottle since it can get slippery with the oil and may shatter if you drop it. Get it directly from Glossier

Key Features

  • Size: 3.3 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Oat oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, sea fennel extract
  • Fragrance: Neroli
  • Cruelty-Free: Yes

Pros

  • Incredible, non-greasy texture
  • Moisturizes and soothes
  • Appropriate for all skin types
  • Gorgeous, comfortable packaging

Cons

  • Glass bottle can get slippery

2
Best Budget
Neutrogena Lightweight Body Oil
Neutrogena Amazon.com
$16.99

This budget-friendly body oil is quite special, despite being so affordable. While sesame oil is the star ingredient in it, the actual main ingredient is isopropyl myristate. Isopropyl myristate is a wonderful emollient and texture enhancement that allows the oil to better penetrate into the skin while also preventing it from feeling greasy. This makes it a decent choice for all skin types (except for the very sensitive since there is a fragrance in the blend). Sesame oil comes second and offers additional moisturization and lots of vitamin E.

The bottle that this oil comes in is huge, but the flip-top style cap can leak a little, so be careful with how you store it.

As we learned from Dr. Dray, this formula also includes an emulsifier that allows it to rinse off with water. It’s not exactly a full cleansing oil, but it still partially rinses off, which is a great bonus. It makes for a wonderful in-shower treatment since you can cleanse and moisturize in one step or follow it up with a regular body wash. Pick it up from Amazon!

Key Features

  • Size: 16 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Isopropyl myristate, sesame oil, PEG-40 emulsifier
  • Fragrance: Clean
  • Cruelty-Free: No

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Non-greasy texture that’s quick to penetrate
  • Moisturizing
  • Can work as an oil cleanser for body

Cons

  • Leaky bottle

3
Runner-Up Best Budget
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Body Oil
Palmer’s Amazon.com
$8.69

This oil is another fantastic budget option. It’s a little richer than Neutrogena’s body oil, so if your skin is quite dry, you’ll probably end up preferring it. This is because it includes oleic acid-rich canola oil, which moisturizes well but can also feel a little greasy.

It still contains some isopropyl myristate, which keeps the formula from feeling too heavy, as well as cocoa butter and sesame oil, which boost the antioxidant content. Finally, more vitamin E was added to soothe the skin and protect it further. It’s a nice, solid moisturizing formula, but it doesn’t have the same exotic oils as some of the more expensive body oils on our list.

It’s still a fantastic choice for anyone on a budget. It’s available on Amazon in the original cocoa scent or in a rose scent, both of which are really lovely.

Key Features

  • Size: 5.1 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Canola oil, isopropyl myristate, sesame oil, cocoa butter
  • Fragrance: Cocoa or Rose
  • Cruelty-Free: No

Pros

  • Great for dry skin
  • Affordable
  • Comes in two nice fragrances

Cons

  • Can feel a little greasy

4
Best Splurge
Tata Harper Revitalizing Anti-Aging Body Oil
Tata Harper Sephora.com
$115

Tata Harper is one of the original luxury all-natural brands, with impressive products at high price tags. This body oil is designed to act as both a moisturizer and anti-aging treatment, with a blend that’s based solely on botanical oils, plant extracts, and essential oils.

The oil blend here is quite light, with sunflower oil, olive oil, and jojoba oil. It’s not greasy, but it loads the skin up with a diverse blend of fatty acids to moisturize well, while all of the extracts are quite antioxidant-rich, so it can offer some anti-aging protection.

The fragrance is all-natural, but it’s still quite strong, so some beauty lovers may find it a little irritating. Is it worth the cost? For the budget-conscious shopper, probably not. If you normally shop luxury and want to try a well-crafted, potent, and truly all-natural formula, it’s worth a try. Buy it at Sephora!

Key Features

  • Size: 4.1 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Sunflower oil, olive oil, jojoba oil plant extracts
  • Fragrance: Herbal/floral
  • Cruelty-Free: Yes

Pros

  • Light and moisturizing
  • Made with antioxidant plant extracts
  • All-natural formula

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Fragrance can irritate

5
Best Hydrating
Eminence Organic Skin Care Apricot Body Oil
Eminence Dermstore.com
$29

It’s not common that a body oil can hydrate the skin directly (despite what many brands claim), so that’s exactly what makes this product special.

It’s a deliciously-scented formula with grape seed oil, apricot oil, jojoba, and a few other respectable oils. The hydration comes from the brand’s signature Organic Phytonutrient Blend™, which includes all kinds of antioxidant-rich plant extracts, hydrating juices, and glycerin, a humectant that’s able to pull water directly into the skin. It’s not quite as hydrating as a lotion, but it still offers something that most body oils simply cannot.

As with all Eminence products, the formula is all-natural, so while it’s light and quick to sink in, it doesn’t have any silicones that would give a silky skin feel. The fragrance, however, is incredible, especially for anyone who likes fruity scents. It’s available through Dermstore.

Key Features

  • Size: 8.2 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Organic Phytonutrient Blend™ (fruit extracts and glycerin), grape seed oil, apricot oil
  • Fragrance: Apricot
  • Cruelty-Free: Yes

Pros

  • Can hydrate the skin directly
  • Delicious apricot scent
  • Light and quick to sink in

Cons

  • Not the silkiest body oil

6
Best for Scars
Bio-Oil Skincare Oil
Bio-Oil Amazon.com
$20.99

Bio-Oil is one of the most famous body oils, and it’s especially well regarded as a scar and stretch mark remedy. It has been around for decades, and the formula has gone through very few changes over the years.

It’s primarily made of mineral oil, which is known for its gentleness and intense moisture-sealing effects. The thick oil is made lighter and non-greasy by the addition of a few other emollients. They give Bio-Oil a nice texture without compromising its ability to moisturize and protect the skin.

The formula also includes retinyl palmitate, a gentle vitamin A derivative that still has some skin- smoothing (and scar-smoothing) action. The combination of moisturization and light smoothing is exactly what the skin needs to heal scars thoroughly. However, the added essential oils in the formula slightly increase the risk of irritation. Since this formula can be so universally helpful, we wish there was a fragrance-free option. Order it from Amazon!

Key Features

  • Size: 6.7 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Mineral oil, retinyl palmitate
  • Fragrance: Light and clean
  • Cruelty-Free: No

Pros

  • Very moisture-binding
  • Vitamin A smooths the skin
  • Non-greasy texture

Cons

  • Fragrance can be an issue

7
Best with SPF
Supergoop! Glow Oil Body Oil SPF 50 Sunscreen
Supergoop! Nordstrom.com
$38

This body oil brings us back to a time when rubbing oil into your skin at the beach was perfectly acceptable. No, we’re not so old that we’ve lived through those days, but we’ve seen the films!

The major difference is that this body oil isn’t designed to help the sun cook your skin, but quite the opposite. With a water-resistant 50 SPF formula, it’s a powerful sunscreen that’ll protect your skin while giving it a sheen.

The formula isn’t all botanical oils. In fact, the top of the ingredient list is filled with different kinds of emollients and emulsifiers that keep the formula stable while preventing greasiness. It does contain some grape seed, soy, and meadowfoam seed oil, which do offer some added moisturization and antioxidant protection.

One thing to keep in mind is that since the texture is so unique, it’s a little harder to gauge how much you need to use. Be diligent and dispense more than seems right to avoid underusing and getting a sunburn. Purchase it at Nordstrom!

Key Features

  • Size: 5 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: SPF filters, grape seed oil, soybean oil, and meadowfoam seed oil
  • Fragrance: Cucumber
  • Cruelty-Free: Yes

Pros

  • Powerful sun protection
  • Non-greasy formula
  • Some moisturizing effects

Cons

  • Easy to underapply

8
Best Organic
The Honest Company Organic Body Oil
The Honest Company Amazon.com
$12.30

The Honest Company is one of our favorite celebrity-led skincare brands. It manages to offer all-natural and even organic formulas at a reasonable price point, and without the immense amount of fragrance most other natural brands include in their products.

The result is an all-natural body oil that even those with very sensitive skin can still use! In fact, it was designed to be used not just by adults who love beauty products but also as a baby oil! It’s a mild, lightweight formula with gentle yet nourishing oils, like sunflower oil, jojoba oil, and coconut oil.

The only drawback to the formula is the packaging. The bottle itself isn’t very durable, so it can get damaged during shipping, which leads to leaks.

It will work well for all skin types, but it’s especially ideal for those with normal and dry skin but an aversion for heavy products. Order it online from Amazon!

Key Features

  • Size: 4 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Sunflower oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil
  • Fragrance: Fragrance-free
  • Cruelty-Free: Yes

Pros

  • Mild and gentle
  • Thoroughly moisturizing
  • Can be used on babies
  • Lightweight formula

Cons

  • Flimsy bottle can leak

9
Best with CBD
Lord Jones High CBD Formula Body Oil 100mg
Lord Jones Sephora.com
$50

CBD comes in all kinds of formats, but it’s probably the most luxurious in body oil. Just like other CBD body products, it comes in a smaller quantity than more mainstream options and for a higher price, primarily because it’s meant to spot-treat.

It comes in a rollerball dispenser, so rubbing it all over your body wouldn’t be practical. Instead, it’s ideal for targeting minor aches. You can roll it over your wrists or back of the neck to relieve tightness and tension, at least temporarily.

The main carrier oils in the formula are meant to sink into the skin quickly, which is important when you want the CBD delivered as quickly as possible. It includes a mix of pure fatty acid esters, silky coconut alkanes, as well as antioxidant-rich oils in a blend that’s marvelously light and non-greasy. Shop for it at Sephora!

Key Features

  • Size: 1 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: CBD
  • Fragrance: Light and citrusy
  • Cruelty-Free: Yes

Pros

  • Quick to sink in
  • CBD soothes irritation and pain
  • Convenient roller ball applicator

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Too small to use all over the body

10
Best for Sensitive Skin
CeraVe Eczema Relief Creamy Oil
CeraVe Ulta.com
$18.99

It can be difficult to find body oil when you have sensitive skin since most formulas are quite fragranced. This unusual oil, however, is designed specifically for very sensitive skin or those with eczema.

Before we dive into the impressive ingredient list, let’s talk about this product’s unusual texture. The name ‘creamy oil’ is just right, as this product is an unusual emulsion with the texture of oil but with a milky tinge. It’s a little runny coming out of the squeeze tube, but as you massage it into the skin, hydrating agents in it sink in, while the oils leave a protective barrier layer at the top. The runny texture does mean that it can be a little messy at first, and it’s not very travel-friendly.

Despite the body oil texture, it includes a lot of signature CeraVe ingredients, like barrier-restoring ceramides, hydrating hyaluronic acid, and soothing niacinamide. There is also colloidal oatmeal, which is a proven ingredient for relieving sensitivity and eczema. If you’re looking for an oil that can dramatically soothe your skin, buy it at Ulta, or Amazon!

Key Features

  • Size: 8 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Ceramides, hyaluronic acid, colloidal oatmeal, niacinamide, olive oil
  • Fragrance: Fragrance-free
  • Cruelty-Free: No

Pros

  • Fragrance-free for sensitive skin
  • Hydrates and moisturizes with hybrid oil-cream formula
  • Barrier-restoring and soothing

Cons

  • Messy texture

11
Best Shimmering
Tom Ford Soleil Blanc Shimmering Body Oil
Tom Ford Sephora.com
$100

This luxury product rolls skincare, makeup, and perfume all into one exceptional body oil. Based on the original Tom Ford Soleil Blanc perfume, this body oil has the same warm and spicy scent that’s fantastic for summer. It also has the same high price point.

As a body oil, it’s a pleasant, dry-feeling formula that’ll work for all skin types, although it likely won’t impart enough moisture on its own. You can layer it over a body lotion for a more comprehensive skin-nourishing treatment.

Finally, where this body oil truly shines (forgive our pun) is as a skin shimmer. It’s infused with fine golden particles that enhance the skin and give it a remarkable glow, like your favorite highlighter. It’s especially beautiful over a tan when it makes the skin look bronzed and glowy! Find it at Sephora, or Nordstrom!

Key Features

  • Size: 3.4 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Ethylhexyl palmitate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, jojoba oil
  • Fragrance: Warm and spicy
  • Cruelty-Free: No

Pros

  • Incredible scent
  • Gorgeous highlighter-like shimmer
  • Pleasant, non-greasy feeling

Cons

  • Not very moisturizing
  • Expensive

12
Best for Dry Skin
L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil
L’Occitane Nordstrom.com
$50

From L’Occitane, this is one of the richest body oils on our list, even though it’s not heavy or greasy. It’s made with a blend of almond oil, triglycerides to lighten the texture, and rosehip and camellia oil, which round out the formula’s fatty acid composition to ensure thorough moisturization and skin-softening effects.

This complex blend works well to alleviate dryness and give the skin a sheen, especially after a shower. Most of it sinks into the skin easily, but a small layer stays on the surface to add some protection. It does mean that this oil can stain clothes, so stick to using it at night.

It does have a small fragrance, but it’s almond-based, which is generally less likely to irritate sensitive skin. Shop for it at Nordstrom, or Sephora

Key Features

  • Size: 3.3 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Almond oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, camelina oil, rosehip oil
  • Fragrance: Almond
  • Cruelty-Free: No

Pros

  • Rich and moisturizing
  • Non-greasy
  • Gentle almond scent

Cons

  • Can stain clothing

13
Best Floral
Herbivore Botanicals Jasmine Body Oil
Herbivore Botanicals Nordstrom.com
$44

If you love the scent of jasmine, you’ll find this body oil positively intoxicating. It has a gorgeous floral scent that emanates softly without overwhelming the senses. It’s a gorgeous touch that makes this otherwise decent but slightly pricey formula stand out a little more.

As a body oil, the formula is on the lighter, silkier side with a mix of dry-feeling oils, like grapeseed oil with silky capric triglycerides. Jojoba and camellia oils round out the blend and add a touch of emolliency, so though light, it’s still balanced and moisturizing. We’d recommend it especially to those with normal or oily skin, although it might be too light for dry skin.

The packaging is a very luxurious glass, which pairs nicely with the decadent scent. Get it from Nordstrom, or Sephora

Key Features

  • Size: 4 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Grapeseed oil, capric triglycerides, jojoba oil, camellia oil
  • Fragrance: Jasmine
  • Cruelty-Free: Yes

Pros

  • Gorgeous jasmine scent
  • Light, non-greasy texture
  • Balanced and moisturizing

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Too light for dry skin

14
Best Anti-Aging
KORA Organics Noni Glow Body Oil
KORA Organics Sephora.com
$58

This luxury, all-organic body oil gives Tata Harper a run for the money. It’s a pricey formula with some very sexy results. First, this oil is a little lighter in texture but gives an immense glow to the skin.

It’s made with rosehip fruit oil, which gives the formula a golden color and a ton of skin-rejuvenating power. Rosehip oil is naturally rich in beta carotene, a pro-vitamin A with a potent ability to protect the skin from premature aging. It also includes noni fruit extract, sea buckthorn, and pomegranate oils, which add their own dose of soothing and anti-aging effects.

It’s fluid and non-greasy, but it does leave a bit of a residue on the skin, but in a way that can be incredibly fetching. Because of that, we’d recommend it to all skin types, as long as you don’t mind a sheen. It’s sold at Sephora

Key Features

  • Size: 3.4 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Rosehip oil, vitamin E, noni fruit extract, sea buckthorn oil, pomegranate oil.
  • Fragrance: Rose
  • Cruelty-Free: Yes

Pros

  • Very rich in antioxidants
  • Lovely rose scent
  • Non-greasy
  • Leaves a pretty sheen on the skin

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Leaves a slight residue on skin

15
Best for Sore Muscles
ELEMIS Musclease Active Body Oil
ELEMIS Nordstrom.com
$63.50

If you’re an avid gym bunny or frequently suffer from joint or back pain, this body oil can offer a surprising amount of relief. It’s formulated with maritime pine essential oil, an essential oil with cooling constituents that have an instant effect on the skin, helping to ease tightness and soreness. The scent is strong and a little masculine, so men will likely enjoy it as well, although it might clash with your usual vibe on most days.

It’s a nice alternative to CBD body oils, although it’s not as potent an anti-inflammatory. Beyond the pine, the rest of the formula is simple and moisturizing with almond oil and sunflower oil. These oils have a slightly slower rate of skin penetration, which makes it a great option for body massage. Pick it up from Nordstrom!

Key Features

  • Size: 3.3 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Maritime pine essential oil, almond oil, sunflower oil
  • Fragrance: Pine
  • Cruelty-Free: No

Pros

  • Helps alleviate soreness
  • Great as a massage oil
  • Very moisturizing

Cons

  • Masculine scent

16
Best Citrusy
Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil
Burt’s Bees Amazon.com
$6.29

Almond and wheat germ oil come together in this rich body oil to care for the driest parts of your skin. This body oil is designed without any texture enhancers but just rich, pure plant oils and some fragrant essential oils.

It’s designed specifically for pregnancy, as a belly oil meant to prevent stretch marks. The reality is that any body oil that moisturizes well can do that, but it’s still a lovely oil for anyone to try. Just keep in mind that it contains lemon oil, which makes the skin more sun-sensitive and calls for extra protection during summer.

This formula is even a touch richer than the L’Occitane Skin Oil since wheat germ is a heavier oil. However, the two formulas are fairly similar, otherwise, and the key difference is fragrance. If you prefer a light, citrusy fragrance, then we think Burt’s Bees will be more to your liking. Find it on Amazon

Key Features

  • Size: 4 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Almond oil, wheat germ oil, lemon essential oil
  • Fragrance: Lemon
  • Cruelty-Free: Yes

Pros

  • Rich and moisturizing
  • No fillers
  • Refreshing scent

Cons

  • Can make skin sun-sensitive

17
Best Dry Oil
Moroccanoil Dry Body Oil
Moroccanoil Nordstrom.com
$48

This silky oil is a lot like the original Moroccanoil Treatment but with a full-sized twist and some added skin-loving ingredients. Argan oil is the most famous ingredient in the blend, of course, due to its restorative properties and high dose of vitamin E, but it’s not the only ingredient.

The two main ingredients are actually simpler emollients, with cyclopentasiloxane (a type of silicone) responsible for the dry way this oil feels on the skin. Normally an ingredient found in primers, this silicone gives a velvety feeling to the skin and yet acts as a powerful moisture-sealing agent. This makes this oil especially great to lock moisture into the skin following a shower.

It comes in a small spray bottle, so you don’t get a ton of product, but it does make applying it incredibly convenient. Combined with a fairly strong fragrance, it actually ends up being quite reminiscent of perfume. The scent can be overwhelming for some, but if you like the original Moroccanoil scent, then you’ll be a fan. You can get it at Nordstrom, or Sephora.

Key Features

  • Size: 3.4 Oz.
  • Key Ingredients: Caprylic/capric triglyceride, cyclopentasiloxane, argan oil
  • Fragrance: Moroccanoil Originale (notes of vanilla, amber, and more)
  • Cruelty-Free: Yes

Pros

  • Convenient spray bottle
  • Primer-like velvety texture
  • Excellent moisture-locking effects

Cons

  • Small quantity for price

What to Consider When Buying Body Oils?

Body oils are a very diverse group of products, with an endless amount of potential formula blends. They can be made with both botanical oils and lab-made emollients, which means that they can have a massive range of properties and textures. Each body oil is unique, so here are the key factors you need to consider when shopping for one.

Oil Properties

A body oil is as unique as the oils that make it up and their different properties. When it comes to botanical oils or butters, their compositions are usually extremely complex, with ingredients like fatty acids, glycerides, and unsaponifiable antioxidants and vitamins.

Some oils are rich in fatty acids that work well to lock moisture into the skin, while others are light and soothing. When looking for the best body oil for you, consider your skin’s needs and find oils that correspond.

We discuss which oils work best for which skin types, which will help you figure out which of the body oils to choose.

Texture and Staining

If it’s a body oil, surely, it’s oily, right? Well, as it turns out, oily can mean a lot of different things, and greasy isn’t necessarily one of them. When looking for the best body oils, we tried to avoid recommending products with an overly greasy texture, as those are often unpleasant, and they’re a little more likely to stain clothes or bed sheets.

Instead, we found a lot of options that are light and quick to sink into the skin. In some cases, the more dry-feeling the oil, the less moisturizing it’ll be, but that’s not always the case. Some of the richer oils on our list can feel a little heavier, which is worth it if you have dry skin, although it makes for a product that’s more likely to stain clothes.

What to Look for in the Best Body Oil for You?
@koraorganics

Packaging

All body oils are a little slippery, so if they spill or break, you can end up with a potentially dangerous mess on your floor. That’s why we took note of the packaging, especially in cases where it’s particularly convenient or particularly likely to spill. In general, we obviously prefer a spill-proof container, but in some cases, it’s worth being extra careful with a budget-friendly product.

Scent

Most body oils are fragranced, and in fact, they can even be considered as a type of fragrance all on their own. Some are scented with natural essential oils, while others are made with a complex perfume blend.

In each review, we’ve let you know what each body oil smells like, so you can make sure to choose a fragrance that’ll be to your liking. If you have a sensitive nose or a fragrance allergy, you may prefer one of the fragrance-free options we’ve included instead.

What to Look for in the Perfect Body Oil for Your Skin Type?

When shopping for a body oil, you’ll want to consider how it’ll behave in relation to your skin. Here are our suggestions for the best body oils for each skin type and unique concern!

Dry Skin

Dry skin and body oils are a match made in heaven! After all, oil is exactly what dry skin lacks. Certain oils work better with dry skin than others, but in general, most of the options on our list are a good choice for you.

Oils rich in oleic acid, like olive oil and almond oil, are great when it comes to instant dry skin relief. Oils rich in linoleic acid, like sunflower oil and safflower oil, have skin-repairing and soothing effects. There are also oil-like ingredients that aren’t technically oils, like jojoba oil, squalane, and caprylic/capric triglycerides that do a remarkable job of caring for dry skin.

The only oils to avoid (at least at the top of the ingredient list) are ones that are high in tannins like grapeseed oil, as those may dry the skin.

Oily Skin

When you have oily skin, finding a body oil that works for you is a little harder. From a sensory perspective, you’re probably not a fan of anything that feels too greasy or heavy, for example. Dry body oils like Neutrogena or Moroccanoil are going to be your favorites from that perspective.

As far as ingredients go, your skin will benefit from the soothing, non-comedogenic effects of oils, like sunflower oil and safflower oil. You’ll also enjoy texture-enhancing ingredients, like silicones or isopropyl myristate.

Heavy oils, like olive oil or coconut oil, are fine towards the end of an ingredient list, but if they are the primary ingredients, you’ll probably find the blend too heavy.

How to Choose the Best Body Oil for Skin Types?
briana.wilvert

Pregnancy and Stretch Marks

During pregnancy, many beauty lovers choose to use body oils as a way of preventing stretch marks. Keeping the skin soft and supple will help to mitigate any permanent damage from the fast and sudden stretching that comes with pregnancy, as well as with growth or weight gain.

Any body oil can help, but the best body oils for stretch marks will also include ingredients that are able to speed up cell regeneration. In the case of Bio-Oil, for instance, that means vitamin A.

Sensitive Skin

Those with sensitive skin have to take the most care when shopping for a body oil. Body oils can be incredibly soothing and restoring to sensitive skin, but they also have the potential to irritate. Heavily fragranced products, especially, can sometimes exacerbate irritation and eczema.

Look for products that either contain mild fragrances or are totally fragrance-free – CeraVe and The Honesty Company’s body oils are both great choices. Beyond that, like those with dry skin, you’ll want to avoid very dry oils, like grape seed oil. Instead, look for restoring oils, like sunflower oil, coconut oil, almond oil, and more.

Your skin will also benefit from soothing ingredients, like oatmeal, calendula, or chamomile.
