If you ask any beauty enthusiast, they’ll probably confess that they don’t feel complete without their mascara. For many, mascara is the finishing touch to any makeup look, whether it’s minimalistic or dramatic. In further conversation, you’ll also learn about their desire to find a mascara that helps them achieve long, fluffy-looking lashes without the fear of clumping, smudging, and flaking.

When BIRDYLASHES shared the news about its venture into mascara, we knew we wanted to be among the first to try it (especially since the brand is well-known for its extensive line of lash products, including various false lashes and a 2-in-1 adhesive liquid liner).

“The brand-new Wing It Mascara ($16) will help give both volume and length,” Yasmin Maya, BIRDYLASHES Founder and CEO, shared exclusively with Glowsly about the new mascara that features a dual-ended wand for top and bottom lashes.

What’s Wing It Mascara, and how does it work?

While chatting with Maya, we learned that she created Wing It Mascara to solve her struggle of needing multiple mascaras to complete her makeup look. “I have always used two mascaras — one for my top lashes and one for my bottom lashes,” she explained before pointing out the unique design of the dual-ended mascara wand.

Maya said her mom was also a source of inspiration when creating the unique wand. It was specially designed to coat and divide your top and bottom lashes without the fear of messy application, a problem her mom often faced in her hunt for a spoolie that was thin and precise enough to coat all her lashes.

What’s the formula behind the mascara?

“It was important for me to create a mascara that could be worn every day or as your go-to for special occasions,” the beauty founder explained about the high-performance formula that lasts for 24 hours and checks off all the boxes for beauty enthusiasts.

“I wanted something that would not transfer, budge, or move,” Maya told us. “Our wands and formula were made precisely to separate the lashes nicely and make them look full without clumping.”

How do you achieve the best results with Wing It Mascara?

To get the best results, Maya suggested wiggling the wand through your lashes to get them separately and evenly coated. When applying the second coat, she advised pressing the wand against the lashes for a lifted, curled effect.

Maya also recommended curling the lashes with a lash curler. “You can even warm your curler lightly, which will give your lashes more length,” she added.

REMOVAL TIP: Maya suggested using waterproof makeup remover to remove the mascara from around your eyes.

What our reviewers said

Emerald Elitou, Writer

“I used the product as soon as I got it! The chic black and gold tube that houses the Wing It Mascara instantly caught my attention, which I am positive added to my excitement to try the mascara. Just minutes away from heading out the door to a luncheon, I applied the product quickly and with multiple coats. The bottom lash wand was perfect for easy application without disturbing my makeup.

“While I LOVED how the formula refused to smudge after accidentally rubbing my eyes throughout the day, I felt that the mascara weighed down my naturally straight lashes, likely because of my swift motion and three coats of products. However, I wasn’t put off by the product, so I was anxious to give the mascara another go.

“This time, I followed the suggestions from Yasmin Maya, the founder of BIRDYLASHES. Using her advice, my results turned out much better — especially when I scraped off excess product onto the edge of the tube and applied it with a careful hand. I’m happy to report that the mascara lasted all day long.”

“I didn’t know what to expect from BIRDYLASHES’ Wing It Mascara. When I initially opened the package, I immediately became obsessed with the sleek black and gold tube that could be thrown into my purse and taken with me wherever I go.

“I’d never used a dual-sided mascara before, but I liked the separation — the tiny brush for the bottom lashes made application much easier since larger brushes often overwhelm my bottom lashes. What I absolutely love about Wing It Mascara is how lengthening it is. If you apply it slowly and carefully, you’ll notice how elongated and flow-y they look.

“That said, it does come off pretty chunky, which I didn’t expect since it’s advertised as ‘clump-free’ on the website. It’s also not as long-lasting as I would’ve hoped, nor is it waterproof or water-resistant.”

“When I get asked that pesky question about the one makeup product you just can’t live without, my answer is always mascara. So, as you can imagine, I’m quite picky when it comes to a good lash product. It took years for my current pick (ILIA’s Limitless Lash) to dethrone my original go-to (Too Faced’s Better Than Sex), but as more and more clean and vegan options hit the shelves, I’m becoming more open to trying new products.

“Trying BIRDYLASHES was an experience. Understanding the dual-sided tube took a few seconds, and the thicker top-lash brush applied the product pretty heavily. However, the ultra-thin brush for bottom lashes was a breeze to apply and hit every single tiny lash I could see. There was no doubt the mascara delivered on length — and who doesn’t love some lengthy lashes?

“I wish the product was a bit lighter, so it clumped less and didn’t make my top and bottom lashes get stuck together. I also wish the mascara had lifted and curled my lashes a bit more.

“While BIRDYLASHES didn’t make me fall hard enough to replace my beloved Limitless Lash, I plan on keeping it handy for when I want a thicker, more prominent lash.”To learn more about Wing It Mascara, visit
